Getting Started

  1. Install it

One installer covers the whole Tangle catalogue. Run it, pick Everything (the default) or Choose plugins and tick just the ones you want; anything you haven’t bought simply runs as a free trial when you first open it. It drops the plugins into the right folder automatically, so your DAW can find them.

    Windows

Run the .exe installer and accept the prompts. On the components page, keep Everything or switch to Choose plugins and tick your modules. It installs the VST3s to Common Files\VST3. Pro Tools users: also tick Pro Tools (AAX) — it goes to Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins, and the installer ticks it for you if it finds Pro Tools already installed.

Windows warns you it’s unrecognised? Expected; here’s why and what to click.

    macOS

Open the .pkg and follow the steps; use Customise on the installation-type page to untick modules you don’t want. VST3 and Audio Unit are ticked by default and install into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins; tick Pro Tools (AAX) as well if you use Pro Tools, and it installs into /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins.

  2. Open it in your DAW

Add the plugin to an audio track. It loads as a VST3 (and an AU on macOS, or AAX in Pro Tools). If your DAW doesn’t see it yet, run a plugin rescan; most do it automatically, but you can force one:

    Reaper

    Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → VST → Re-scan.

    Ableton / Logic / others

Toggle the VST3/AU folder off and on in Preferences, or restart to trigger a rescan.

  3. Activate with your serial

The first time you open it, a licence window appears over the plugin. Paste your serial into the Licence serial field and click Activate. The window closes, and you’re in, for good, on this machine.

Just trying it out? Click Start Free Trial instead; no serial needed. You get the full plugin for the trial window; after that, drop in a serial to keep going. You’ll need an internet connection the first time you activate or start a trial.

Windows: “Windows protected your PC”

Our Windows installer is code-signed as Weaver Audio Pty Ltd — you should see that name in the admin prompt when you run it. If the name is missing or different, stop and email us.

You may still occasionally meet SmartScreen’s blue warning. Windows builds reputation per signing certificate over time, so a recently issued one can be flagged for a while even when the file is signed correctly. It is a statement about how many people have run this particular certificate, not about what is in the file.

Windows protected your PC
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognised app from starting…
Click More info then Run anyway

The Run anyway button only appears after you click More info; that’s the step most people miss. Then accept the usual admin prompt, since the plugins install to a shared folder.

If Defender quarantines the download instead, open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history, find the item, and choose Allow on device. Then run the installer again.

Prefer to check it yourself? That’s reasonable; upload the installer to VirusTotal and scan it against ~70 engines before you run it. Only download it from your account page; we never send installers as email attachments.

macOS installers are signed and notarised by Apple, and open normally.

Where do I find my serial?

Two places, whichever’s handier:

  1. Your purchase email. We sent your serial to the address you bought with, right after checkout.

  2. Your account. Sign in and open Account → Your licences to copy it straight from there; no typing.

It looks like TNGL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Copying it (rather than retyping) avoids mix-ups like 0 vs O.

One licence, two machines

Your serial activates on two computers: a desktop and a laptop, say. Activate on each the same way.

Switching machines? Open Account → Your licences, hit Deactivate next to the machine you’re retiring to free a seat, then activate the new one. Need a third machine for a good reason? Email us and we’ll sort it out.

If something’s not right

Windows says the installer is unsafe, or Defender removed it

The installer is code-signed as Weaver Audio Pty Ltd, but SmartScreen builds reputation per certificate and can still warn about a recent one — see Windows: “Windows protected your PC” above. Short version: click More info, then Run anyway, and check the publisher name says Weaver Audio Pty Ltd. If Defender already quarantined it, restore it from Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history → Allow on device, then run it again. Only ever download it from your account page.

How do I update to a new version?

Download the current installer from your account page and run it straight over the top. There’s nothing to uninstall first, and no need to remove the plugins from your projects.

Your presets survive. They aren’t stored inside the plugin. They live in your own user folder — %APPDATA%\WeaverAudio on Windows, ~/Library/WeaverAudio on macOS — and the installer only ever writes to the shared plugin folders, never there.

Your activation survives. Same reason: the licence is cached in that same user folder, filed under the product rather than under a version number. Updating doesn’t ask you to activate again and doesn’t use up your second machine.

Saved projects reopen with your settings intact — every control keeps the value you gave it. We hold changes to how a module sounds for major versions, with one exception: if something is audibly broken, fixing it is a fix, and a fix can change a mix that relied on the fault. Anything like that goes in the changelog. And installing an update is your choice either way — the version you have keeps working.

My DAW doesn’t show the plugin

Run a plugin rescan (see step 2). Double-check your DAW scans VST3 (on Windows) or VST3/AU (on macOS) — or AAX, in Pro Tools, and that the folder the installer used is in your DAW’s plugin paths. A DAW restart after installing usually does it.

It says the serial is invalid, or won’t activate

Three quick checks: (1) you’re connected to the internet: the first activation needs it; (2) the serial is exactly right: copy it from your account page to rule out typos; (3) you’re on the latest build: if you installed an early copy, reinstall from your account and try again.

It’s silent, or asks me to activate again

That means it isn’t activated (or a trial has ended). Open the plugin’s window and enter your serial. If you were mid-trial, activating with a serial picks up right where you left off.

I’ve used both my machines and need to move

Go to Account → Your licences and Deactivate a machine to free a seat, then activate on the new one. Nothing to reinstall.

Support

Who you’re emailing, and when to expect a reply

Support is not outsourced — your email reaches the people who build the plugins, and every one of them gets read. We work on AEST/AEDT, so if you write from Europe or the Americas the reply usually lands overnight your time.

We aim to reply within two business days. If it’s been longer, assume something went astray rather than that you’ve been ignored: check your spam folder for the reply, then send it again.

What we can help with: installing and activating, a serial that won’t take, moving a licence to a new machine, downloads, receipts and refunds, and anything the plugins themselves get wrong — bugs, crashes, a module that doesn’t sound like it should.

What we can’t: support your DAW, your audio interface or your operating system, or advise on your mix. If your problem turns out to be one of those we’ll say so, and point you somewhere useful where we can.

Email [email protected]. Telling me your OS, your DAW and its version, which plugin, and what you actually saw usually saves a round trip. Writing from the address you bought with is the fastest way for me to find your order.
